Chelsea do look a different side when Costa isn’t playing and they are distinctly more vulnerable at the back because they lack the bite up front. It will be interesting to see how Radamel Falcao fits into the system at Chelsea after really sputtering out at Manchester United this past year - even he seemed to understand what a huge disappointment he was.

Manchester City are considered to be a general 11/4 to win the Premier League by virtually every major bookmaker and they will be putting the press on to try to sign at least one marquee player by the end of the transfer window. City seemed a bit cynical at times last year - over relying on the skill of Sergio Aguero a bit too often and they will need to diversify their approach this year if they really want to make it work and get back to winning ways.

Arsenal put together a good finish last year and they are working on some very solid signings this summer but a good quality defender and some reinforcements up front are definitely going to be needed if they are to mount an actual title challenge instead of just having at go at Champions League qualification again. The side looked much better towards the end of the season than the start and they were in the mix for a while with a chance to actually win it, which is rare for Arsenal.

You’ll find the Gunners trading at a 9/4 price tag with some books trimming them into a 4/1 listing for Premier League glory.

The issue with Arsenal is that they always seem to be torn between actually trying to win the league and trying to impress in European competition. They seem to have seasons where they are at least able to perform one well but they wind up fading out badly in the other. Arsene Wenger has put together a team full of great players but if he can really get them playing as a cohesive unit, instead of just a team full of great players all playing at the same time, you will start to Arsenal being much more than just the sum of their parts.
