CARLING CUP BETTING ROUNDUP

The Carling Cup fourth round gets underway this evening with a few potential shocks on the cards. But with Manchester United hosting Wolves in the televised game of the evening I don’t think we can expect to see a cupset being beamed live into our homes.
Both Sir Alex Ferguson and Wolves manager Mick McCarthy are expected to ring the changes for tonight’s game, and that should mean an even greater chance of progression or United. Strength and depth in a squad is an area where the big clubs continue to tower over the smaller Premier League clubs and tends to be the main reason as to why the cream rises to the top over the course of a season. United can show their superiority in that department with a comfortable win tonight at odds of 1/3 with Bet365.
Away from the TV cameras Wigan have a tricky tie against high-flying Swansea who are unbeaten in five games and are up to third in The Championship table. They could cause the upset of the night at odds of 11/4 with BlueSquare.
Elsewhere Sven Goran Eriksson’s Leicester side host West Bromwich Albion. The Baggies are unbeaten in seven in all competitions including a victory over Arsenal and a draw at Old Trafford. However, Roberto Ddi Matteo is expected to rest a number of first team regulars tonight and that could give The Foxes an opportunity to cause a minor shock at odds of 2/1 with totesport.
Away from football, Pakistan’s cricketers return to action following their calamitous summer tour of England. The Pakistanis will take on South Africa in the first of two Twenty20 internationals to be played in Abu Dhabi later today.
Despite being without the players involved in the spot-fixing allegations the Pakistan limited overs side managed to restore some credibility on the pitch towards the end of the series against England. Their erratic nature makes it difficult to mark them as a stand out bet, but at odds of 11/8 with Victor Chandler they have to be worth a small interest.
