Valencia facing off against Paris St Germain is the third major toss-up fixture with the Spanish side getting a slim edge at home against the French champions. The bookmakers have them listed as the 7/5 favourites while their counterparts are a relatively interesting 8/5 to get the away victory.

The draw can be backed at 21/10, though it should be noted that the French side are getting the edge in the qualification market with a 4/9 price against Valencia's 13/8 listing. Look for this one to go down to the wire, as both sides are capable of getting wins away from home – but both sides have proven themselves relatively error-prone.

Porto vs Malaga may not sound like the most enticing of affairs but there will be plenty of passion on display in this one as well. The Portuguese side are the 10/11 favourites kicking off the opening leg in front of their home fans. Punters will find Malaga not usually being a side that gets this far but they deserve to be here based on their performances and the 12/5 price in the opening leg is relatively fair – they are definitely capable of winning.

This one is a true toss-up in terms of who progresses to the next stage – both sides are a straight 5/6 price.

The banker ticket for the opening leg of fixtures in the 2012/13 Champions Leg knock out stages is likely going to include Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus. A four-fold on that pays out at a decent 7.35. Those looking to go against the grain and really try to drop a bomb here will likely be backing Celtic, Manchester United and AC Milan to get victories in the first legs – this treble pays a whopping 142/1. Backing an all-England ticket would see United, Celtic and Arsenal earning a 60/1 payout.
