Cheltenham Day One Tips and Latest Betting

We are just a short time away from the kick off of one of the biggest betting events anywhere on the planet. The Cheltenham Festival in 2021 is going to be a different iteration than what we are used to but we can obviously still expect plenty of action and excitement over the course of the festival itself.

The opening day’s action is always hotly-debated and the Supreme Novices Hurdle is typically one of the most popular, albeit overbet, races of the steeplechasing showpiece.

Appreciate It is the headliner in the ante post markets for the Supreme Novices and he comes in looking to complete four wins on the bounce with two of those being Grade 1 efforts at Leopardstown. He trades at a best price of around 13/8 with several top bookmakers and looms as a significant favourite. Both Soaring Glory and Ballyadam are considered to be the upset contenders here with prices of 7/1 and 6/1, respectively.

The Akle looks to be all about Shishkin as the banker horse for many on the opening day’s action. Nicky Henderson’s charge looks to be a genuine superstar in the making and adding an Arkle to compliment the Supreme Novices trophy that he won at last year’s festival will do much to add to his legend. A potential Gold Cup horse down the line, he is priced at ⅚ and will be a popular addition to accumulator tickets on the opening day at Cheltenham.

The 2021 Champion Hurdle is an interesting affair that looks to be a really solid betting race with several favourites in the mix and a few longer-priced contenders having claims to a victory here. Henry De Bromhead’s Honeysuckle is the slim favourite here with a 5/2 best price while Epatante has perhaps gone off the boil a  bit having lost to Silver Streak on Boxing Day.

You’ll find Evan Williams, Silver Streak available at 16/1 and looking like a solid each-way bet.

Concertista in the mares hurdle is a popular selection as well with a price around 6/5 with several top bookmakers showing off the confidence the punters seem to have in her based off her two graded victories this year. There’s plenty to like about her and if she runs a clean race, should be bang in there. Minella Melody has been knocking on the door for some time and has finished second in her past three races - she looks very interesting at 25/1.
