DONALD TRUMP A 100/1 SHOT TO BE ELECTED US PRESIDENT IN 2012

While the bulk of the American political class are busying themselves on the 2010 mid-term elections, there is already a fair amount of jockeying going on between several candidates eying up a presidential run in 2012 with the belief becoming increasingly apparent that Barack Obama is beatable.
While the Irish bookmaker Paddy Power confirms Obama as the odds-on favourite to win the 2012 election (with an 8/11 price), there are a few other decent options out there as well.
Mitt Romney is currently considered to be the strongest Republican-affiliated contender and you can get a 6/1 price on the man from Massachusetts.
This news certainly won’t come as good news for those on the hard left but Sarah Palin, the mama grizzly herself, is trading at a 10/1 price to win the presidency in 2012. John Thune is a strong contender at 14/1 with Hillary Clinton the best-priced Democrat other than Obama- she trades at a 16/1 price amidst a recent statement that she won’t seek the vice presidency in the next election.
One of the most interesting names currently being bandied about is Donald Trump- who has confirmed that “for the first time in my life, I’m actually thinking about it (seeking the presidency)” in a statement to MSNBC.
Just to make things even more interesting, Trump hasn’t ruled out the possibility that he may align himself with the Tea Party- the grass-roots right-leaning organization that is single-handedly turning the conservative movement on its head with a blend of populism and fiscal austerity.
Donald Trump’s odds to be elected the next US President are trading at 100/1 with various bookmakers. This places him substantially further ahead than the likes of Dick Cheney, who is listed at 200/1, or Will Smith (aka the Fresh Prince) who can be backed at 250/1 with Paddy Power. An election of either Laura Bush or Paris Hilton would pay out at 1000/1.
Currently, Donald Trump is considered as likely a candidate as John Kerry, Tim Kaine, Janet Napolitano, Jim Webb, Kathleen Sebelius, Paul Ryan or Sam Brownback- all trading at 100/1. A Trump presidency hasn’t been a possibility since the 1980s and, with a TV show that still draws in plenty of ratings, Trump certainly has the platform to work with. The American political landscape is changing around so quickly that you almost can’t rule anything out.
