English Premier League Saturday Betting Preview PT 1

There is a lot to like about the upcoming weekend of English Premier League action and a number of crunch contests are set to unfold this weekend as the season begins to get down to that crucial period where teams begin laying down their intentions in both the relegation fight and at the top of the table.

While the Champions spot is unlikely to change thanks to the large points lead that Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side have built up, things are starting to look extremely interesting in the race for the Champions League positions as Manchester City have cooled off extremely in the past couple of matches.

The situation certainly reached a head with their 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park as Alan Pardew put together another excellent tactical victory with Palace getting the win despite being outshot by nearly 400%.

Palace face an absolute toss-up fixture this week as they travel to Sunderland - another side that has experienced a resurgence thanks to the installation of a new manager. The bookmakers see little between the two sides as they have priced the pair of them at 17/10 margins while the draw trades at 21/10. That speaks more fondly of Palace since they are the visiting side and the books consider them to be just as likely to win as the host side.

Swansea take on Everton in the first fixture on Saturday and the Swans come in as the 7/5 favourites to get the better of the Toffees here who can be backed at a 19/10 price tag. The draw trades at 23/10 and it looks like the bookmakers think this one could be a lower scoring affair as they have the 2.5 over/under paying out at 3/4 on the “under” option.

Spurs dropped points against Burnley last week and they are favoured to get things back on track against Aston Villa - who might be playing this one with a bit more of a battling style since they are just a point ahead of the relegation zone and it looks like it will be a dogfight for them for the rest of the season.
