Liverpool vs Manchester United Betting Tips Part 1

All eyes will be fixed on Anfield today as Manchester United face a crunch clash with Liverpool in the English Premier League. After being held to a scoreless draw by Premier League title favourites Chelsea last week, United are going into this fixture as the underdogs to get all three points as the bookmakers seem to be putting their support behind the home side.

With Chelsea seemingly ending their pursuit of Wayne Rooney - which last a reported three bids for the United striker and likely used up several million rolls of newsprint - it appears as though David Moyes has won the war to keep Rooney stationary.

Only a few days remain in the English Premier League transfer window and many will be expecting Moyes to go into overdrive in the next couple of days to deliver at least one marquee signing. You do have to wonder how many of the players that United have pursued would have joined immediately for the opportunity to play under Sir Alex Ferguson?

While Rooney’s name has been in the headlines the most, you do reckon that the bulk of United fans will be putting their bets on Robin Van Persie to do his utmost to secure the victory. As he was held by Chelsea last week and stifled at virtually every opportunity, you reckon that he’ll be raring to go in this next outing and his match-up with the Liverpool defense will be one that he’ll be relishing.

The Reds back line looks far from settled and with Rooney and Welbeck likely to start alongside the flying Dutchman, you get the feeling that he will be able to move into plenty of space and find a few good opportunities on goal.

Steven Gerrard has scored against United in four of their last six fixtures and William Hill are rolling out a special wager on Steven Gerrard to score at anytime - it’s trading at an enhanced price of 5/1.

You can lock in 4/1 on Daniel Sturridge to score at anytime and Liverpool to win, while Robin Van Persie to score and Manchester United to win can be backed at a 3/1 price tag.
