Maxence Parrot a Slopestyle Banker Pt 1

With the world’s eyes firmly focused on the (replays) of the opening ceremonies in Sochi, plenty of punters are wondering where to put their action on sports that don’t typically see any real betting volume at all. It’s quite rare to see public wagering lines issues on non-Olympic snowboarding events, but one of the first gold medals to be awarded will be in the Snowboard Slopestyle competition and we, thankfully, have one of the key wagers for the day ready to go here.

Canada’s Maxence Parrot is a strong favourite to win this massive competition that has seen plenty of controversy start hitting newspapers in Canada. Since slopestyle is a judged event - something that always attracts plenty of criticism as it is - it makes it extremely difficult to get a gauge of how things are going to go because there is so much subtlety and nuance to the scoring.

Parrot was awarded an astronomical score of 97.5 by this same crew of judges (which also happens to be led by a Canadian) while others who posted good runs were stifled for points and finished closer to the 90.0 range.

It will be interesting to watch and we are by no means implying that the fix is in here, but many observers have declared that there is a distinct possibility that Canada could sweep the podium here. This makes it very interesting to see if you can add some of the extra Canadian contenders to your tickets in a top 3 finish capacity. That type of wager adds value because you don’t have to absolutely nail their placing - Parrot is the only one worthy backing outright.

The others include Sebastien Toutant who recently criticized Shaun White for withdrawing from the slopestyle competition - likely because he was set to lose out to the Canadian contingent and, as one of the entrants with major international sponsorship, he likely saw the type of competition that would be on display and went scurrying back to the half-pipe.
