NEXT LIVERPOOL MANAGER BETTING: RIJKAARD FAVOURITE

With the pressure increasing on Roy Hodgson with every passing game there is naturally a fair bit of interest in the next Liverpool manager betting market at present. Martin O’Neill had been the favourite almost since the day that he left Aston Villa, but we now have a new odds-on favourite
Former Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard yesterday left Galatasaray by mutual consent with the Turkish side languishing at ninth place in the Turkish Super Lig. Both Skybet and Paddy power have immediately installed the Dutchman as the 4/7 favourite to take over from Hodgson at Anfield.
And with the 63-year-old former Fulham manager now as short as 10/11 to be the next Premier League manager to leave his post it looks as though that change could come sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile, at arch rivals Manchester United Wayne Rooney appears to be on a war path to burn any remaining bridges that he has at Old Trafford. After releasing a statement yesterday evening that reiterated his desire to leave The Red Devils and also accused the club of a lack of ambition he is now a 2/5 chance with Betfred to leave the club in the January transfer window.
They also make Manchester City the 6/4 favourites to be his next club, but I’d be looking to place my money elsewhere for this one. No matter how much they want to offload the 24-year-old it would not make sense for Sir Alex Ferguson to allow his star player to cross the city to their local rivals and Premier League title competitors.
A switch to the continent would be the most logical move for Manchester United and would also allow Ferguson to assert his authority on the situation. Real Madrid are a 5/2 chance to take the player but Barcelona are a slightly more appealing 8/1.
Very little has been mentioned about the possibility of the player moving to Italy but if you are looking for an outside bet then the two Milan clubs at odds of 20/1 look decent value. The passion for football in Italy is similar to that in England and a switch to Serie A has been a popular move for English stars in the past.
