Next Manchester United Manager Latest Odds

After the impending departure of so-called “football genius” David Moyes - also known as “The Chosen One” also known as “the guy literally sprinted off the field after just being doubled by his old club for the first time in 44 years” - we now have a race to see who actually gets the permanent nomination. The betting markets have swung significantly in the past 24 hours since the first whispers began to emerge that Moyes position had become untenable.

It now appears as though Louis Van Gaal is set to get the permanent spot. He is coaching Holland but is set to leave following the World Cup and the timing is just right considering the circumstances of the whole thing. Yesterday, he could be found hovering around a 4.0 price tag with most major bookmakers.

As it currently stands, some books have taken Louis Van Gaal into odds-on territory with Bet365 now pricing him at 1.91 to be appointed next permanent Manchester United manager. His highest price is around 2.25 right now and it will likely continue to pick up steam as he has no real club managerial connections and the link seems to be good enough.

Jorgen Klopp is the other name being bandied about in the press and he’s risen to around 10/1 with BetVictor taking him all the way down to a 6/1 price tag at the moment. He has stated he has no plans to leave Dortmund so he’s probably worth keeping off your lists as well.

There are some weird anomalies to be spotted, however, with Jose Mourinho priced at 13/1 with Bet365 but a price of about 26/1 literally everywhere else. Pep Guardiola can be found anywhere from 34/1 with SkyBet all the way down to 15/1 with Coral.

The odds of Sir Alex Ferguson himself actually returning have risen considerably but he’s also one of those contenders whose price fluctuates wildly from book to book with a 15/1 price at one location and a 34/1 listing at the next. Tony Pulis, for instance, is anywhere between 50/1 and 180/1.

It’s worth not getting too excited about Ryan Giggs as he is only a caretaker manager and, with several hundred million to spend this summer, United likely wouldn’t trust that to a player/manager with no experience navigating a summer transfer window and virtually no scouting network. Expect Giggs to come on as Van Gaal’s assistant once things begin to firm up.
