Premier League Sack Race Betting Part 2

Laudrup is a very promising managerial candidate and, if he was to be the first to leave, it would likely be because of a significant vacancy at a major club somewhere on the continent. You don’t see Laudrup staying in England if he does leave, but the fact that he trades at a 3/1 price - as the clear second choice - definitely gives you a feeling that he is up for grabs as the season goes on.

Martin Jol has been doing more or less what is required of him at Fulham and he still trades alongside the controversial Sunderland manager Paulo Di Canio with each manager available at 7/1 to be the first removed from his position this year.

Following that we have Andre Villas Boas at 12/1 and though he isn’t likely to be the first manager removed from his job (something that would only happen if, say, Spurs couldn’t get a win in their first eight matches) you do see his position being under review a bit more than he would like.

For a club with ambitions of winning major tournaments and actually competing for the Premier League title, you have to wonder whether they truly think Villas Boas can grow into the position quickly enough for their tastes.

Chris Hughton is a 16/1 shot while Mauro Pochettino can be backed at 20/1 to be the first manager to leave their job.

Then you have a very large group of managers all trading at 33/1 and these are ones who are likely to last at least a season, though there are a few vulnerable ones in here you might think. Ian Holloway is at 33s alongside Brendan Rodgers, Malky Mackay, Mark Hughes, Sam Allardyce and Steve Bruce. Steve Clarke also trades at 33/1 with Paul Lambert and Roberto Martinez each at 40s. Arsene Wenger and Manuel Pellegrini are priced at 50/1.

No manager to leave at any point in this season also rewards at 66/1.
