Reading vs Arsenal Betting Tips and Preview

The Gunners put together one of the most intense comebacks that we’ve seen for quite some time during their League Cup clash with Reading the last time the sides locked horns. While Arsenal, who have been inconsistent for much of this season, were ultimately knocked out by lowly Bradford City in the subsequent League Cup fixture, they get an opportunity to help themselves to three points against the English Premier League’s basement team.

Both sides have some players returning from injury in this fixture but it remains to be seen just how much of an impact those individuals might have on the end result. Look for Arsenal to field a more offensive formation than they have shown in the past - they know that getting the lead early here will be crucial as Reading have struggled to come back from a deficit.

Arsenal fans might be tempted to tuck into the 3/5 price that the bookmakers have them listed at for the outright victory. Reading themselves are available at a 5/1 price for the outright win and will be looking to put in a real performance for the home fans here. It will be tough going, but with Arsenal not looking their sharpest at the moment, you reckon that the Royals may think they can get a result from this one.

Should Reading get the victory, you can expect that to be a significant boost to team morale. Everybody knows that the fate of the basement team at Christmas is usually sealed so expect them to fight tooth and nail to get the result that may see them springboard ahead of QPR, who have only just notched their first actual victory of the season.

The returning pair of Pavel Pogrebnyak and Jason Roberts are both considered strong contenders the get a goal for Reading though Adam Le Fondre is the outright favourite to find the back of the net.

Arsenal will be turning to Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski to get the result here in front of goal. Both are priced at around even money to grab an anytime goal.

Arsenal go into this one with much more to lose than Reading - the pressure is on Arsene Wenger and the criticism will build with anything but an emphatic victory.
