Rooney and Zamora for Montenegro vs England?

If the early reports are to be believed Fabio Capello has opted against starting Darren Bent or Ashley Young up front with Wayne Rooney as Bobby Zamora looks set for a shock start in Montenegro this evening. England go into this crucial match as the firm favourites to get a positive result but England have been known to slip up on their travels from time to time. It appears as though Capello is banking on Zamora to be especially hungry to prove himself.

Punters will find England trading at an 8/11 price to get the 90 minute result while the host team are paying out at a 4/1 margin. The draw, which would likely suit Montenegro just fine, is listed at a 5/2 price tag.

There is still a relatively quality price available on Zamora for those who actually think he can open the scoring in this fixture. Despite Wayne Rooney likely to be getting the bulk of the attention, his tendency to drop deep and attempt to dictate play can open things up for a savvy poacher – which is likely how Zamora will be deployed.

At the time of this writing, Bobby Zamora is listed at 7/1 to notch the opening goal of the fixture. Wayne Rooney is trading at a slim 4/1.

The Rooney factor is crucial because all of the media attention thrown onto him once again (this time by his father's arrest in an alleged betting scandal) will either mean Wazza has a poor match or he goes out and scores five goals. It adds an element of unpredictability to England's talisman and likeliest match winner.

Should Rooney be able to rise to the occasion, it will signify his maturity and ability to cope with media pressure and negative attention. It could be a risk worth taking as England and Rooney (and Zamora for that matter) all look to be available at relatively tempting prices.
