Ryan Moore Backed for Top Flat Jockey Honours

After a thrilling battle that went down to the final day of the season last year, Ryan Moore is emerging as the bookmakers favourite to be named the top flat jockey for 2011. Paul Hanagan produced a master-class in 2010 to pip his two rivals to the coveted title.

Ryan Moore has been trading as low as evens to finish with more flat wins than any other UK jockey in the 2011 season.

Six-time winner Kieren Fallon is considered to be a clear second favourite at a 7/2 price tag and his winning record, combined with a quality price, could shift some of the wagering in his direction. Paul Hanagan is trading at a 4/1 price just off the pace.

Other contenders include Richard Hughes at 6/1 and Silvestre De Sousa at 25/1. Frankie Dettori is trading at 33/1 and his global commitments can pull him out of the day-to-day race-riding that is necessary to put a genuine press on for the flat jockeys championship. William Buick is also priced at 40/1. Jamie Spencer can be backed at a 50/1 price tag.

With the flat season getting kicked off in a major way this weekend with the William Hill Lincoln – it’s clear that the race is on!
