Saturday English Premier League Betting Tips Part 1

As the Christmas fixtures are now almost upon us, we can get ready for the season to really start to develop as all of the different sides really begin putting their money where their mouth is. All the excuses stop around this point - you’re not going to magically turn around your season without making serious adjustments if you’re languishing at the bottom of the table at this point.

The relegation race is going to look even more competitive after the New Year as the title race looks to have already devolved into a two-horse race. Look out for some of these match-ups tomorrow to have some real impact on how things shape up at the end of the season.

There are no massive rivalries kicking off but there are several nearly must-win fixtures set to unfold. Wigan vs Arsenal is looking like a crucial match for both sides with Arsene Wenger under an increasing amount of pressure. His side rolled back the years a bit on Monday by putting together a quality performance. They will need to build on that in order to have any shot at moving forward - Wigan can be a tricky side but they have to get it just right in order to really trouble the bigger teams. It’s usually around this time of year that Wigan begin turning it around and actually playing some quality stuff.

The bookmakers are throwing their support behind Arsenal for this one and listing them as the 3/4 favourites to get the result despite being the visitors. Hosts Wigan trade at a full 4/1 to hold off the Gunners while the draw (which wouldn’t surprise too many) is a solid 12/5 shot.

Look for Tottenham to do their best to get a result against a Stoke side that can be a genuinely tough to deal with. Spurs can be backed at an 8/13 price tag and that’s likely going to see them emerge as popular accumulator selections throughout the weekend. There isn’t a huge amount of value in backing them outright - especially since Stoke do have a real shot at taking at least a point here.

The Potters can be backed at 11/2 and they’ll be taking some away support, but you have to expect more action on the 12/5 draw for anybody betting against Spurs. 1-1 would be a great result for Stoke.
