Triumph Hurdle

Tracing its origins all the way back to 1939, the Triumph Hurdle is a key Cheltenham race open to horses four years old and upwards. Notable Runners must deal with eight hurdles over a 2m1f course.

Contested exclusively by juveniles, this race is considered one of the most wide open at most Cheltenham Festivals. Nicky Henderson's yard have been the most consisten Triumph Hurdle winners of late, taking first in both 2009-2010 with Zaynar and Soldatino.

Notable Runners

Unaccompanied– He was a fairly obscure Irish-bred son of Danehill Dancer until he conquered a Grade 1 contest at Leopardstown to send a real message about his festival intentions. He might be a bit better suited to Punchestown and is unraced outside of Ireland. He enters the race as one of the leading Notable Runners and will look to track the leaders in this one.

Grandouet– A very progressive-looking Nicky Henderson charge, he was bested by Sam Winner at Cheltenham back in November and then managed to avenge the loss with a pair of impressive victories. He flashed career-best figures last time out and will enter the race in very good nick.

Sam Winner– While his last race didn’t go according to plan, he opened the season with back to back scores at Cheltenham and he’ll be expecting to carry some momentum into this one. His first season being campaigned in England, he is an ambitious prospect from the Nicholls yard and would make a massive statement if he were to score here.
