World Hurdle

Run annually since 1972, the World Hurdle is considered the premier long distance hurdle on the National Hunt calendar with Notable Runners tackling twelve hurdles over a 3m course. Originally known as the Stayers' Hurdle and it tends to cater to specialists who take on the race year over year.

Inglis Drever made a name for himself by taking the race three times within a four year span. Talented hurdler Big Buck's has conquered the race in the past two outings.

Notable Runners

Big Buck’s– An unabashed superstar over hurdles, this eight year-old son of Cadoudal is one of the premier Notable Runners in Paul Nicholls yard. He hasn’t lost since he unseated his rider at Newbury back in 2008 and he is generally bet down to microscopic prices. He’ll be looking for the three-peat this year and has been odds-on in the ante post market for quite some time; a festival banker, so to speak.

Grand Crus– The punters consider him to be the only genuine threat to Big Buck’s and it’s not hard to see why as he has scored on all three efforts this season after missing last year’s festival. An up-and-coming contender at the age of six, he has formed an excellent partnership with Tom Scudamore.

Punchestowns– A fan favourite for the away team, Punchestowns ran a tame fifth to Weapon’s Amnesty in the RSA Chase last year. Should he opt to go back over hurdles he’ll be a very interesting proposition.
