Unhappy Triad Ends Tote's Season

Hércules’ fears were confirmed on Monday as forward and team captain Tote will miss the remainder of the La Liga season after suffering a serious knee injury in Sunday’s loss to Almería 2-1.

An MRI was done on the player where doctors and medical staff saw that the player suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament, torn medial collateral ligament and a torn meniscus in his right knee.

The injury to the Alicante side’s emotional leader was deemed serious right after it occurred but the speculation as to its severity would not be discussed until these tests were completed and they truly told the extent of the damage to the knee.

The initial timetable in place for these types of injuries require between six to eight months to rehabilitate and the 32-year-old confirms that he will begin that process as soon as possible.

Tote lamented for the injury to have occurred at such a crucial stage of the season as Alicante side have fallen into the relegation zone for the first time this season.

Tote’s production fell off this season due mostly to the signings of Nelson Haedo Valdez and David Trezeguet.  He only scored one goal this season in 21 matches played.   In Tote’s case it wasn’t his numbers on the pitch that made him important to the club, instead it was the leadership and intangibles that he brought to the table since his arrival to Alicante back in 2006.
