English Premier League Weekend Preview

The English Premier League continues to fascinate heading into the tail-end of the season with the epic United vs City showdown now exactly one month away. The Manchester side boast a full three point advantage over season – who have an edge on goal difference, but have been seeing results get away from them on a few occasions while United have more or less been able to string together a series of positive domestic results.

United face a resurgent Blackburn in another Monday game this week and Steve Kean deserves some respect from fighting back from literally being what many thought was moments away from the sack at one point or another. He still has a long way to go to secure Blackburn's status in the premier league but things are now looking much more positive for their side, who have seemingly traded crisis-club status with Wolves.

Sunday sees a pair of intriguing fixtures with Newcastle and Liverpool proving to be a serious opportunity to jockey for position heading into the scrap for fifth or even fourth place. Tottenham vs Swansea looks a much more interesting match now than it did at the start of the season with the Welsh side likely fancying themselves for this one – such is the brand of quality football they've been displaying over the past few months.

Swansea are outperforming expectations at the moment and, while they may not exactly “do an Ipswich” they are certainly welcome additions to the league. They trade at a full 7/1 for the win.

QPR's players are likely playing for their positions next year – which look like they might be in the Championship if things don't improve dramatically. Arsenal have been doing alright as of late and many will expect them to kick on with another solid performance.

QPR are at their best when they have their backs to the wall and a big match in front of a big team at a big time in the season could see them produce a, well, big performance. The bookmakers have them at 9/2 for the home victory.

Manchester City play host to Sunderland and they're significant favourites for this one. The Black Cats are capable of pulling off a surprise and anything less than three points here is a disaster for City. Sunderland float at 11/1.

Wolves and Bolton face off in a very important relegation clash that could offer hope to either team should they get all three points.
