The Players Championship is the most popular non-major championship in the world of golf and, while it was previously dominated by the Americans, it has become quite competitive over the last decade.

The tournament was originally called Tournament Players Championship until 1987 when the purse topped out at $1,000,000. Now the total purse for the Players Championship is $9,500,000 with the winner taking home just south of $2,000,000.

Extremely low scores are commonplace in the Player’s Championship and the betting volumes on this event can be extremely enticing.
