2010 General Election Live Betting On Next PM and Coalition

Well, the Betting markets don't lie do they? Betting Choice was front-and-centre with the prediction that we were set for a hung parliament.

It's been an awfully long night without a real measurable outcome and, you can rest assured that the betting markets continue to roar on, well past the £40,000,000 mark.

Resolute Irish bookmaker Paddy Power continues to offer up live betting on the 2010 General Election, so if you are still hankering for a piece of the action to get your Friday morning off to an interesting start. There are still some interesting bets out there although only three markets are available.

In regards to the Prime Minister after the General Election, David Cameron is heavily-favoured to take the position with a slim 1/20 price. Gordon Brown is trading at 7/1 and obviously this would involve a bit of wheeling and dealing with Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats. Should Nick Clegg somehow negotiate himself into the Prime Minister seat, you'll be rewarded at 200/1 for taking such a ridiculous bet.

The story of the election is the whooping that the Liberal Democrats took in regards to the high expectations that they had. Nevertheless, Clegg looks to be the kingmaker and will likely take up the Deputy Prime Minister position if a coalition is formed. That was heavily-favoured earlier in the day.

The overall majority is none- a hung Parliament pays out at a live price of 1/200. A Conservative majority trades at 16/1 and it's interesting to note that a Conservative majority was trading at even money just before the exit polls initially became available.

Now down to the market that everybody is clamouring about. You can currently book a bet at 2/5 on no coalition being formed. The dust hasn't completely settled yet and the expected legal action from those who weren't able to vote could complicate this as well. A coalition with the Conservatives are paying out as the favoured option with a 10/3 price.

The odds on Labour and the Lib Dems to form a coalition government pays out at 4/1. It looks like it could happen and I expect that to be a popular betting option as this fascinating story in British politics continues to unfold.
