The fact remains, however, that only a few states genuinely make the difference here with a number of competitive battleground states (otherwise referred to as swing states). A number of top bookmakers are all offering up prices on individual states being won and we'll be taking a look at each of them here today.
Pennsylvania is likely the golden goose for the Republicans if they can pull it off and certain books have them trading at a very competitive price with a 3/1 shot to flip a state they haven't done in quite some time while others have them at a 7/2 margin. A couple of books go as short as 11/4 for the Republicans to be able to flip over the Keystone State.
Republicans appear to be in pole position to capture Ohio – traditionally known as an American bellweather state which has picked the president in the vast majority of past elections. Democrats have been waving off hopes that they would take Ohio this year and insisting that Trump has a tough path even if he does pick up the Buckeye State.
As it currently stands, you'll find the Republicans trading at a slim 4/9 margin for the outright victory here while the Democrats can be backed as high as a 15/8 price.
