Things are certainly getting interesting stateside as their race for the White House 2016 has already kicked off in a big way and things are definitely not going according to plan for a number of the top contenders. The betting markets are being watched even more closely this year as analysts and punters alike begin pouring over the odds to see just how things might actually shape up when Americans go to the polls in 14 months.

What looked to be a Hillary Clinton walk-over at the start has rapidly become something drastically different with the former Secretary of State and First Lady once trading as low as 1/5 for the presidency but her odds have now shifted all the way out to as high as 13/10 with several major bookmakers and that move has come just in the last couple of weeks.

Prompted both by the surge of Bernie Sanders and the increasing amount of heat coming from the FBI investigation into whether she put American secrets at risk by using a secondary e-mail server for classified documents that just happened to be hosted in a closet in New Jersey.

With things going from bad to worse for Hillary, this has seen the odds for Democrats rise in the head to head poll for the presidency with Democrats still trading at an odds-on listing of 4/5 while their Republican counterparts can be backed at a 5/4 margin. The bookmakers clearly aren't taking a position there now, despite things looking like a Democratic walk-over just a couple of months ago before things got interesting.

Speaking of interesting, there is absolutely no doubting the fact that the entry and subsequent momentum of Donald Trump has completely turned this election season upside down and inside-out. Virtually everybody was completely shocked when Trump officially threw his hat into the ring and they were even more shocked by the steady stream of statements (many of which have been taken out of context for political purposes by the news media) that would have absolutely sunk campaigns and destroyed careers of other presidential candidates.

This has not been the case for Teflon Don.
