The betting odds of been heating up significantly in recent weeks in terms of the outright election and the party nominations themselves. With a significant amount of controversy and a Non-Stop 24-hour news cycle driving much of the conversation - even when there isn't a whole lot to talk about - it remains clear that the news media wants lots of controversy and are more than content to make mountains out of mole Hills if it will result in more click traffic or higher ratings.
The debates have slowed down and this has affected television viewership and also resulted in a real gift to the pundit class since they spend much of their time shaping the narratives and trying to finish the voting public in certain directions with an emphasis on keeping things unsettled.
The anchors and analysts on the majority of major American Media seem to be absolutely adamant that the Republican convention will be contested and likely settled on the floor. Regardless of the facts at hand they are convinced that this will happen - simply because it will result in the horse race going on even further and allowing them to shape the narratives, add more question marks and drive viewership.
The reality on the ground is much different however - particularly after Donald Trump was able to put together a resounding victory in his home state of New York. This divided much of the media expectation which has portrayed Trump campaign as constantly on the brink of total collapse even though he seems to be picking up more delegates than ever and getting more positivity from the party leaders then he was getting in recent weeks.
