US Election Betting Update PT 1

Things are continuing to stay interesting in the race for the 2020 Presidential Election in the United States and the betting markets are taking even more volume as the Democratic nomination process looks as though it’s about to kick off in earnest in the coming weeks. 

Despite the beginning of impeachment hearings that are expected to be widely televised though not entirely productive, Donald Trump remains the outright favourite to be reelected next year. 

The bookmakers have Donald Trump priced just over even money to be reelected and that’s in the full field of all the candidates. You can expect his price to hover around its current margin for a while and you’ll note the bookmakers have him priced anywhere between 5/4 and 7/5 at the time of this writing. 

The situation involving the Ukraine call is definitely giving second life to the Democrats ability to keep the media narrative completely saturated with “what if’s” about the American president and, regardless of the content of the call, he certainly erred in making it since he probably didn’t have to worry about Joe Biden in the general election anyway. 

The fact remains that the emergence of the Ukraine Call situation has definitely prompted Joe Biden’s numbers to begin to trend downwards in some areas and this has factored more heavily into his price than anything else. For quite some time, Biden was trading as the second favourite by a rather clear margin and now he has drifted downwards.
