Things are definitely starting to gear up in the race for the 2020 election as a slew of Democratic candidates are getting closer to the first big steps in the nomination process. It appears as though the bookmakers are confident that Donald Trump remains a favourite to be reelected despite him currently facing the prospect of impeachment proceedings based on the recent feedback from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. 

Trump’s interactions with the Ukrainian president and the subsequent whistle blowing from a member of the national intelligence community tipped off the democrats about the content of the call. Trump had wanted the Ukrainian president to begin investigating Joe Biden’s son and his business dealings within the eastern european country. 

The heat has definitely been turned up on Trump and it’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few weeks and months with Democrats and a few Republicans (Mitt Romney chief among them) looking to make things difficult for the president going forward. 

The fact remains that Trump is the distinct favourite here to be reelected as president but his odds are definitely drifting upwards, slightly. A few weeks ago most bookmakers had him floated at an odds-on price to be reelected with his listing hovering around 10/11 or ⅚ according to most major bookmakers.
