2012 York Ebor Meeting Thursday Preview

Thursday, August 23, 2012 - 08:28

We had an impressive strike rate in the opening day of the York Ebor meeting and we've got plenty of action and excitement in store for our next day on Thursday. Frankel was able to defy all of the superlatives and he has firmly etched himself into racing folklore by stepping up in trip with just as much verve and aplomb as you could ever ask from a horse.

His flourish in the final 2f was something to behold and you get the feeling that nobody will ever forget watching that race, as Frankel made seasoned Group 1 winners (and the defending Breeders' Cup Turf Champion) look totally ordinary.

2012 York Ebor Wednesday Betting Tips Part 3

The 4:15 Betvictor.com Stakes is a handicap contest going a lengthy 2m88y so you'll definitely be getting some value for your money. Western Prize looks fairly decent based on recent form and the four-year-old son of High Chaparral deserves respect. The one to watch here could be Deauville Flyer, who hasn't really had the best of efforts as of late but could turn it around with a step up in trip.

2012 York Ebor Wednesday Betting Tips Part 2

Frankel's brother Noble Mission is taking a step up to Group 2 for his next effort and he'll be facing off against a number of talented contenders. The form is all quite even here and a number of these horses have already beaten each other. While none of them look to be quite in the same frame as Camelot, there is still plenty of improvement still to come from several of these runners and Noble Mission (along with Godolphin's Encke) look set to show more porgression – as does Thought Worthy, a son of Dynaformer.

The final withdrawals have taken place and we are finally set to see Frankel take the step up to 1m2f and run against proper competition at the distance. He is entered for the 2012 Juddmonte International, a Group 1 affair at the York Ebor meeting, and he is still getting his usual momentum in the ante post markets from virtually all bookmakers.

2012 Great Voltigeur Stakes Preview

A.J. Ryder
Monday, August 20, 2012 - 17:25

Frankel is in action at York this week and is stepping up in trip to a proper 1m2f distance – this is sure to draw plenty of attention but you may also want to note that his younger brother Noble Mission has an entry on the same day in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur.

Seemingly maturing a bit slower than Frankel – and not quite possessing the same withering turn of foot as his older brother – Noble Mission has begun to take very serious steps forward with his first Group level score coming at Goodwood a few weeks ago. He beat out Encke by a nose when sent off at an 11/4 price and he is likely to keep moving forward as he steps up against better quality...

This year's iteration of the York Ebor is going to be a real cracking race with an extremely deep field set to contest it. Motivado looks to be the one to beat at this point as punters have bet him down to 5/1. He enters the race with a very credible victory in his third start of the season. Having bested a tough group going 1m6f at Goodwood, you know that he four-year-old has no real qualms with the distance. He looks to still be offering up plenty of...

2012 Arlington Million Betting Tips Part Two

Aidan O'Brien likely has his eyes on the Breeders Cup at Santa Anita for this four-year-old son of Galileo and they will be banking on a sharp reversal of fortunes after some disappointing runs in Europe. Treasure Beach was able to muster a fourth place finish in the Dubai Sheema Classic in his seasonal debut but is still yet to win since his score at Arlington exactly a year ago. Punters will see him at 6/1 in the morning line and some might reckon he's just about ready to fire. Some might not though.

2012 Arlington Million Betting Tips Part One

One of North America's biggest turf racing targets for European invaders is always the Arlington Million. Introduced as horse racing's first seven figure prize, the early iterations of the contest were won by a number of legendary runners. John Henry, an American myth in folklore and on the racetrack, won the first and third Arlington Millions – his three-peat ruined by Luca Cumani's Teofolo.

Thursday, August 9, 2012 - 17:09

After an extremely long lay-off since her last outing back in November, Snow Fairy finally has a firm date in mind for her return. The multiple Group 1 winner who was purchased for the horse racing equivalent of pocket change, looks set to tackle the Darley Prix Jean Romanet.

While her 2011 campaign wasn't quite the incredible break-out that her 2010 campaign was, she more than held her own at the highest level and managed some very respectable placings at Group 1 races all over the world. Her effort, and the foresight of her connections, was finally rewarded in her final start of her campaign when she conquered a tough...
