Undefeated Dansili colt Ashdan is part of what could be a double entry here from Juddmonte. He has only been out twice and has won both contests - with William Buick in the irons. His last score was in a conditions stakes contest and it's a fair jump up in class to go from that level to the Dewhurst but he certainly has the connections to get the job done. Can he tangle with Group 1 winners and keep things moving forward? Time will tell, but the yard has indicated that he could be the main choice here as Buick looks likely to stay with the mount.
The big season-ending fixture for flat two-year-olds is nearly upon us and you're really going to struggle to find a better spot to lay down your claims for Classics glory next year. This has been a really exciting flat year and with Frankel's retirement looming (and Camelot losing his undefeated status in the St Leger) you have to wonder what's next for fans of European racing.
There's a lot to like about this juvenile crop and you're going to see some great action over this 7f battle, particularly if some of the higher quality runners show up.
There really hasn't been a better-looking Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic for quite some time with a seriously talented quadrant of distaffers looking to stake their claim on the biggest prize for American females this November. There is also a line-up of interesting outsiders who could be poised to capitalize on any mistake from one of the leading runners.
The likes of Royal Delta saw her claims increased with a sensational performance at Belmont Park last weekend in her key Breeders' Cup prep race. Mike Smith piloted her to a very high-quality victory as she shifted back to a race against females. She is going to be...
The odds then take a considerable jump once we get to Excelebration and this talented four-year-old knows a thing or two about finishing behind Frankel. The Aidan O'Brien-trained colt will be looking to chase home Frankel one last time.
One might reckon that a Frankel/Excelebration straight forecast is likely to be the bet of the day as that tandem has paid off on four separate occasions with Excelebration finishing third to Frankel only once – in the 2011 St James Palace Stakes at Ascot. He is trading at 14/1 right now and the price with Frankel would probably be good – particularly on the tote.
Frankel, a living legend in his own right, looks to be set for his final run in just a few weeks as Champions Day draws nearer. The bookmakers have battered him down to 1/10 for the last time and he looks to take on a cadre of contenders that he has all beaten before. A victory lap surely looks to be in the cards. It's just a shame he didn't opt for what turned out to be a very soft Arc De Triomphe or plan to ship stateside for the Breeders' Cup.
A match-up between Frankel and Wise Dan in the Mile at the old Santa Anita stomping grounds of his namesake Bobby Frankel would have been a legendary way to end his career but you can't really fault Sir Henry...
Snow Fairy has had her Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf credentials firmed up by connections recently and she can pull off another major coup here by winning this race. The globetrotting mare was purchased for a pittance but has gone on to win a multi-million dollar haul.
She's going into this race with a slim 2/1 price tag, putting her just a nose ahead of John Gosden's The Fugue, who trades at 3/1.
The Fugue jumped to prominence by winning the Group 3 Musidora Stakes on her seasonal debut and then capturing the Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Goodwood...
Attention is already starting to turn to the 2012 Breeders' Cup at Santa Anita this year and the penultimate fixture of the global flat season is now less than 40 days away. There's a lot to like about how this year's championships is going to play out and the ante post markets are already in full swing with the bookmakers, the exchanges and Las Vegas.
There are some significant gaps in the odds if you can bet between oceans and the usual strategy of betting American horses in Europe and European horses in America could wind up being the way to go once...
Saeed Bin Surooor's Quick Wit is amongst the highest rated contenders in this one and he comes into the race in plenty of form, though he must navigate a tricky weight assignment of 9-12. He started his season in Meydan and has only been out seven times in 2012. He captured 1 of 3 efforts in Dubai and then emerged at York with a disappointing run in a handicap. He then mustered a second place finish at Newmarket with Mickael Barzalona in the irons before finally getting up at Doncaster to score with William Buick...
The flat season is definitely winding down towards its business end with serious chatter about lineups for Champions Day and the Arc meeting starting to firm up all around. The Cambridgeshire is one of the last really big Heritage Handicaps of the season and the prices out there for this one are sure to ge punters excited – though having to navigate through this colossal field is certainly going to be easier said than done.
We'll be taking a look at each of the main contenders in the first portion of this evaluation and then we'll take a gander at some of the longest odds selections in the next piece. There is plenty of value out there –...
After an impressive recent score at Salisbury racecourse, Ed McMahon's two-year-old filly Winning Express will step up directly off the listed level to attempt group 1 company in the upcoming Cheveley Park Stakes at Newbury. Supplemented to the tune of £15,000 for this one after turning out to be something of a surprise in her first two efforts, the daughter of Camacho should be able to excel at the 6f distance being contested here.
She is out of the Open Forum mare Lady Fabiola who has produced a few runners who've sold for semi-respectable prices. The sire is by Danehill and, though he wasn't particularly accomplished on track, was a Juddmonte...
