British Champions Day Betting
A recent reshuffling of major UK flat races has resulted in British Champions Day, which serves as the penultimate day of the English flat season, and is intended to rival the Arc De Triomphe meeting in France and the Breeders' Cup in North America. Over £3,000,000 in purses will be up for grabs to the top finishers and punters can expect inflated betting pools as action pours in from all four corners of the globe. In fact, the day's purses are twice as high on British Champions Day as the second-biggest day of racing in the UK.
The major races on British Champions Day include several Group 1 contests. The Queen Elizabeth II Stakes remains at Ascot for this one while the Champion Stakes has moved over from Newmarket. The Group 2 Diadem Stakes and the Pride Stakes also add credibility to the days card with the Group 3 Jockeys Club Cup anchoring the card and offering up an interesting contest for stayers.
There will also be several exciting handicaps on the card as well.
2011 marks the debut year of the British Champions Series, which seeks to put a more authoratative stamp on flat racing in Britain. The British Champions Series begins with the 2000 Guineas and finishes on British Champions Day at Ascot.
