York Ebor Betting
The York Ebor Festival is one of the oldest race meetings in Europe and was originally held back in the 1840s. Many of the races currently on the card trace their origin back to that period. Traditionally, the key race of the Festival is the Ebor Handicap which runs 1m6f and is one of the longest races you'll see contested at such a high level. The race itself is ungraded but the high purse generally attracts top-class contenders from all corners of the globe.
The Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes is the major race on the opening day of the four-day festival and punters will usually see some of the top contenders from the Epsom Derby lining up against older colts and geldings for the first-time. The result is usually a fascinating affair with plenty of value on offer due to the tricky handicaps that tend to develop.
Betting on the York Ebor is great opportunity for novice punters as many bookmakers will offer up a number of special bets and promotions on some of the day's more popular races. Knowledge of the York surface is essential as some of the starting points represent unique challenges and conditions that runners won't find at other racecourses.
