2020 York Ebor Betting Preview

One of the best late-summer meetings is nearly upon us as the 2020 York Ebor is set to run in just over a week’s time. There is definitely a different feel to the race this time around with Frankie Dettori vacating the race in order to run in France due to quarantine restrictions.

With plenty of other really good races on the card as well, including the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes and the Juddmonte International set to bring together a number of established superstars on the turf at York Racecourse. The late summer showpiece always delivers for the punters with some big odds in really solid fields fetching great prices from the bookmakers.

Taking a look at the feature race for the meeting, The Skybet Ebor, we’ll see that Fujaira Prince is getting the most momentum in the betting markets with the bookmakers struggling to price him effectively. He’s trading anywhere between a 13/2 price all the way to 10/1 depending on whom you’re wagering with this year.

He was victorious in the Copper Horse Handicap at Ascot back in June and he’s finished in the top three in every effort he’s run this year so you can bank on him to be an interesting each-way selection if you’re able to back him at that long price of 10/1. He is effective anywhere between 1m2f and 1m6f with that last race of his looking to be one of the best of his 6yo season.

With an entry into the St Leger like many of the other leading fancies here, you can expect him to make a big impression using this race as a stepping stone.

Punters will find the main challenge likely to come from Trueshan who comes out of Alan King’s yard and deserves plenty of respect. He was victorious in the listed Tapster Stakes in his second start off the layoff at a 1m4f distance and he looks set to improve as he tackles more distance here with his third start of the season.

He looks a bit of a different animal this season having put together some better performances than he did in his three-year-old year and these staying types tend to hit their best runs around this point in their career. You’ll find him trading anywhere between a 10/1 price - all the way up to a very enticing 14/1. If he improves, he should be right in the mix here at the finish.
