Pinatubo has been able to triumph over several of these contenders already and in the Vincent O’Brien Stakes he was able to muster up a really solid performance to trounce the next best-placed finisher, Armory, by a nine length margin.
Earthlight also remains undefeated for Godolphin and you’ll find him looming as a really tempting option as his experience at Deauville will stand him in good stead for his Newmarket sojourn next year should he make it to the Guineas. While the margin of his last victory was only a neck, there will obviously be many who think that he’s got what it takes to get the job done on the big stage.
Unlike several of the others in this market, he hasn’t faced Pinatubo yet so that will definitely tell the tale should the pair of them clash prior to the end of their respective two-year-old seasons.
Siskin’s run in the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes was definitely a great performance and he boasts entries to the Middle Park Stakes in addition to the Dewhurst though many think he will skip the latter race since Pinatubo boasts a sole entry to that particular contest.
As the 3000 lb gorilla in the room, Pinatubo definitely makes the ante post market for the 2000 Guineas into one of the most fascinating iterations in quite some time.
