The odds then take a bit of a jump to 10/1 for Life Is Good and Max Player - two contenders who have gone from strength to strength as their seasons went on. They were both blessed potentially by having to sit out a few months earlier in the season and you can assume that they will be coming into the race in a good way. 

Hot Rod Charlie is one to keep an eye on going forward and he can likely build on his solid performance at Parx when he was able to pull off an important victory for trainer Doug O’Neill and the young connections behind this horse. He has been there-or-thereabouts in most of his races this season - always putting in a good performance but seldom being able to really muster up that extra little bit to get into the winner’s circle. 

Looking like a solid option at 14/1, Hot Rod Charlie is likely a “back now” option for the Classic and it looks to be his key destination with his 1m2f ability negating any option of running in the dirt mile. 

Doug O’Neill and co. know a thing or two about winning at Del Mar and it could just be that this talented colt is coming into form at just the right time. He could be an exciting four-year-old if kept in training.
