2000 Guineas Ante Post Update
- By A.J. Ryder on January 25, 2018 17:24 GMTWhile we are right in the prime middle of the National Hunt season, it’s worth remembering that the flat season kicks off in just a couple of months. With the only really good quality flat action coming out of Dubai these days, it’s worth taking a look at the ante post markets for a number of the upcoming classics this year since there is some good value about if you can keep your eyes peeled and take advantage of market fluctuations.
Punters will find a pretty tight three-way shootout between a few contenders here with Saxon Warrior getting the slim edge across the board from a number of top European bookmakers.
He trades anywhere between a 5/1 to an 8/1 listing right now and looks to be a pretty interesting option as we go forward.
Gustav Klimt is a pretty well-known runner and he had a solid two-year-old season and looms large to make an impression over the middle distances in the 2018 flat season. The bookmakers seem to have plenty of confidence in him and you’ll find him trading around a 9/1 margin best price.
Next up is US Navy Flag, who has emerged as another popular selection from a lot of top flat racing observers. His price is similar to Gustav Klimt in that he trades around a 9/1 margin at the time of this writing.
Other notable contenders include Expert Eye and Roaring Lion - who are both available at a 10/1 listing - Elarqam and Wootton can also both be backed at a 16/1 price, as well.
