2010 Christmas Hurdle Looks All About the Rematch
- By A.J. Ryder on December 28, 2010 14:24 GMTOscar Dan Dan and Shinrock Paddy and co-top-weights for this one and you can expect a very tricky 3m battle for these hurdlers. The mysterious Mossey Joe takes his first crack at Grade 2 company having just taken a Grade 3 novice hurdle at Cork. He is undefeated in his four race career and the seven year-old son of Moscow Society certainly could take plenty of money on the day.
Willy Mullins' Mourad has put in some good shifts over the past calendar year, acquitting himself well against the likes of Hurricane Fly, War of Attrition and Quevega. Depending on how the top-weights fare, he could certainly be in the mix for a slice of this one.
OSCAR DAN DAN gets a bit of an extra edge here if the ground is listed as heavy. You can expect the Thomas Mullins-trained eight year-old bay to maybe sit a bit further back than he usually does and attempt to launch a bid from mid-pack in lieu of his typical stalking style. There's no reason why he cant win if he runs to potential.
Powerstation has plenty of chasing experience and he's been looking decent from a ratings perspective even though his last two have been underwhelming performances. He'll have learned a bit from his seasonal debut just two weeks back and a shift in tactics could pay dividends. If he's priced well then you wouldn't begrudge anybody a bash on him. A victory over Oscar Dan Dan in the 2009 edition of this race is his key reference.
