2012 Dubai World Cup Line-Up Announced

The latest ante post movement in the 2012 Dubai World Cup wagering now has New Zealand-bred superstar So You Think listed as the firm 3/1 favourite for the world's richest race. Several high-profile defections have seen the odds tighten on many of the premier contenders for this race with American Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom one of the most notable withdrawals. The son of Leroidesanimeaux has been sidelined for three months with a stress fracture.

Orfevre was also withdrawn along with Musir, Beaten Up, Bold Silvano and Byword.

Japanese invader Smart Falcon has been considered a significant contender for this race since the ante post odds were initially revealed and he continues to take money in the worldwide markets. The son of Gold Allure (the name would have you think he's by Smart Strike) has rattled of nine high-profile scores in a row including one last June over talented Grade 1 winner Espoir City.

After having run roughshod over much of his local competition, he heads to Meydan for the first time looking to prove his prowess over the Tapeta surface. Punters will find Smart Falcon trading in the neighbourhood of 11/2.

Look for Chantal Sutherland and Game On Dude to make a very big splash heading into the race and representing America. Trainer Bob Baffert has a string of horses heading to Dubai for the day's racing and the front-running style of Game On Dude makes him a serious contender for this one. Marketability aside, a female jockey contesting the world's richest race in a country where being female isn't exactly the same deal as in America certainly adds a bit of spice to the encounter.

Look for Game On Dude's front-running style and high cruising speed to make him a serious contender for the win honours. He trades at a competitive 7/1.

German runner Zazou (not to be confused with America's Zazu) lines up at a 10/1 price and remains one of the premier fancies for those based in continental Europe. Royal Delta, winner of the Breeders' Cup Ladies Classic, has been pointed to this one for quite a while and will be looking to kick on with a big performance. She trades anywhere from 10/1 to 12/1.

Capponi has been one of the horses of the meet at Meydan and he's a serious contender for this race as he looks to be coming into form at just the right time. You'll find him trading at a 14/1 listing alongside Eishin Flash and Master of Hounds.

Transcend is in the mix anywhere from 11/1 to 16/1 while Meydan regular Gitano Hernando is a lengthy 20/1 this time. A longer-odds selection to watch out for is the talented Mendip, who knows the track very well and has beaten several of the contenders here earlier in the meet.
