One of the stand-outs looks to be BetVictor’s promo based around Richard “Can’t Lose” Hughes. If Hughesy places in any race, BetVictor will refund losing bets. You can’t do much better than that - particularly on a jock who already has a choice of some very good mounts for the Royal Ascot festival.

Hughes will be aboard Trumpet Major in the opening contest and he is definitely in with a shout there. He also saddles Toronado in the St James’ Palace Stakes - a contest that has certainly been made more interesting with the introduction of 2000 Guineas winner Dawn Approach. After a disappointing effort in the Epsom Derby, Dawn Approach looks likely to get a big run here against some of the most talented colts of his generation.

The drop back to 1m looks like a solid move and many will be expecting him to conjure up his best form for this contest. The main challenger appears to be Magician, who has taken two races on the bounce this year.

The really interesting Richard Hughes runner appears to be his Coventry Stakes mount Championship. The two-year-old Exceed and Excel colt conquered a tough maiden contest at Newbury and enters the race with plenty of confidence. You really have to like the spacing between the two races with a full month giving him plenty of time to move forward off of that quality win against a field of 12.

Hughes also saddles Midnight Oil in the final race of the opening day and he will need to turn around some rather iffy form for Willy Mullins charge.
