2016 Cheltenham Festival Gold Cup Day Preview PT 2

Clan Des Obeaux may be the one to watch in this race - particularly if you through out his last one where he was only able to muster up a second place finish at Cheltenham in a Grade 2 contest. However go back to the race before where he was able to defeat a talented group of eight by a massive 21 length margin having looked an absolute picture the entire time. He’s a hefty 16/1 which makes him a solid each way contender.

Next up comes the Vincent O’Brien which is a Grade 3 contest and it appears as though this is going to be a very tough handicap with the favourites trading at a tricky price of 15/2 on Superb Story. The one to watch here though may be Blue Hell who can be backed at a 10/1 price tag - making him a very interesting each-way bet - and he has only been out once this year so could be poised to make a very big impression since it was a winning victory and he is well-weighted while not looking out of place at all.

The Albert Bartlett’s is next up and this is another one without a discnernable favourite so you’ll have to settle for 9/2 on Barters Hill and Shantou Bob in a race that really could go any possible way.

The Timico Cheltenham Gold Cup has a very compact field of 10 with the bookmakers unable to really figure out who the outright contender is for the favourite so you will have to watch the market here to see if there are any clues. Rich Ricci’s Djakadam will be well-backed to make a big impression here and he is a 3/1 co-favourite despite falling in the Cotswald Chase when sent off as the 5/6 betting favourite.

Don Cossack is also available at the exact same price and you’ll find him poised to make a big impression here. He may not have put together an excellent body of work this year, having fallen in the King George when sent off as the 15/8 favourite but he definitely deserves respect.

Look for Cue Card, trading at 4/1 and seeking his fourth win on the bounce, to be the final dagger in the hearts of the bookmakers as he lines up for this one looking to make history. It will be his third Grade 1 on the bounce and will complete a very famous treble.
