There is a lot to like about this year’s iteration of the race after the previously unstoppable-looking Arrogate conquered last year’s race over the beloved California Chrome in a late move that left the entire Santa Anita grandstand in a gasp for their breath.

This year Arrogate looked just as unstoppable early on until he started contesting races over the surface at Del Mar where he suffered two defeats in a row against contenders that really looked like he should have been able to get the better of them on paper.

His efforts - or lack thereof - have seen him drop down off the top-rated racehorse list with Australian wondermare Winx being considered to be the world’s greatest thoroughbred. Now with Arrogate considered to be the clear second choice for the Breeders’ Cup Classic, the title of top selection has landed to Winchell Thoroughbred’s accomplished contender Gun Runner.

As it currently stands, you’ll find Gun Runner trading as low as a 7/4 price tag in the ante post market with a few question marks over top of that considering the fact that he could very well be trading at a higher price on the board at Del Mar on November 5th.
