2017 Grand National Betting Update
- By A.J. Ryder on March 20, 2017 16:59 GMTThings are getting very interesting in the Grand National and Britain's biggest horse race is showing signs that it could be setting up for another classic iteration. Now that Cheltenham is behind us, all eyes are on the Aintree showpiece that is set to run on April 8. We are starting to see some key fancies emerge but there are still so many big each way shouts available in this contest that you have to assume that there is a lot of money to be made on the day.

A few bookmakers have already shifted to Non-Runner/No Bet for the Grand National and that's always music to the ears of punters two weeks out from the race.
Minella Rocco trades as the betting favourite right now but not by a particularly large margin. You'll find him trading at a price anywhere between 8/1 to 10/1 which is usually about where you'll find the top choice for a National that hasn't emerged as an absolute stand out.
Behind him is the likes of Vieux Lion Rouge who is actually even with Minella Rocco in a couple of instances and you'll find him trading at an 8/1 price tag with a few more books going much higher up to the region of about 12/1. He's demonstrated in the past that he has what it takes to handle a race of this nature so it's hardly surprising to see him building up so much momentum at this point in time.
One For Arthur looms at a price of around 16/1 with most major bookmakers – likely making him one of the key each-way shouts, particularly when you combine it with his race record. A few books have him into 12s and heading lower by the day.
Definitly Red can be backed at a 16/1 margin as well alongside the likes of the Last Samurai and Blaklion. It's Blaklion who will likely take a fair amount of money as he's been able to muster up some really solid performances over proper fences on a few occasions and this seems like the type of race that he'll have the measure of with a bit of luck.
Old favourite Cause of Causes appears ready to come back for another kick at the can and he's trading at 20s alongside The Young Master and Sephir De Rheu.
