Irish War Cry has emerged as one of the most interesting and likeable horses in the mix for this year's Kentucky Derby. A homebred by Isabelle Tomaso, who is based in New Jersey, he won the Holy Bull on debut before throwing in an absolute stinker in the Fountain of Youth with a very poor showing of seventh. He then followed that up with a great score in the Wood Memorial Stakes at Aqueduct – a race that hasn't been the best reference as of late, but one that usually brings out some talented horses late in the season.
You'll find Irish War Cry challenging for the favourites position with a listing hovering anywhere from a 7/1 margin all the way up to a 9/1.
Another horse who is definitely taking a fair amount of money despite not boasting a whole slew of Derby Trail points is McCracken – who has definitely showcased plenty of ability in his route to the roses at Churchill Downs. You'll find the Sam F. Davis at Tampa Bay being one of the key races for him but prior to that he flashed some real quality with a pair of victories in stakes races at Churchill Downs.
He then followed that up with a solid third place effort in the Blue Grass at Keeneland. While he may not have been completely pushed that day, he certainly has claims to make a big impression and the punters are backing him to a listing around 8/1 all the way up to a 14/1 margin.
