2017 Pegasus World Cup Update PT 1
- By A.J. Ryder on December 31, 2017 01:27 GMTThere is a lot of action and excitement set to unfold at Gulfstream Park in the 2017 Pegasus World Cup, which is now just a month or so away from kicking off as the world’s richest horse race is set for its second iteration.
The pay-to-play match-up at nine furlongs plays out at the northern Miami racetrack in late January and last year it was punctuated by a stellar performance by the talented Arrogate as he triumphed over California Chrome in his final contest before Arrogate then topped that showing with a spectacular victory in Dubai.
It proved to be the last really big victory for the likes of the Bob Baffert trainee and Arrogate has now gone to stud and a horse who was rumoured to be running in last year’s Pegasus but was ultimately done in by a quarantine issue at Fair Grounds in New Orleans.
Now, the Breeders’ Cup winner, who was able to vanquish Arrogate last time out in the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Del Mar, comes into the race with a lot of momentum and a stack of punters seem to be convinced that Gun Runner is the one to watch here despite the short price.
There’s a lot to like about his ability and you can bank on the odds swinging around considerably as we get closer to the race actually kicking off and final declarations being made.
Taking a look at the odds right now, you’ll find that Gun Runner is anywhere between a 4/6 all the way up to a ⅚ price tag to get the victory here against this talented line-up.
