Whether this has to do with a series of unfortunate accidents, or individuals pushing lower level horses too hard so that they can scoop up more of that casino purse money is still up in the air.

That being said, perhaps one of the biggest reasons why nothing has been done about this and why certain groups appear to be turning a blind eye to it is because there haven’t been many accidents or breakdowns involving higher-quality horses like those we will see in the Travers Stakes.
Interesting food for thought, for sure.
Looking ahead at the race itself we have a very unique situation that hasn’t actually happened since 1982. All three Triple Crown winners will be contesting the Travers and that’s a very unique occurrence. It either speaks to the strength of this three-year-old crop and the resiliency amongst them and their soundness.
Or it speaks to the fact that there simply has not been a real standout contender to emerge this year. Regardless of what the racing public seems to think, there is an awful lot of talent set to run in this race and it has produced a wide open betting race for the ages.
