2018 Arkle Chase

The Arkle is always one of the most popular races at the Cheltenham Festival and you can expect a really exciting contest as they line up in the Cotswalds again this time around. There are a few really solid contenders in here and there’s plenty of interesting wagering options going forward no matter what type of selection you’re looking for.

This is a race that always tends to be popularly played as the middle leg of a treble or quaddie. There is always a lot of ante post money down the tubes following the Supreme Novices and you can expect them to be chasing wagers on the second contest of the day.

This year the one to watch appears to be the general 11/8 favourite Footpad who comes into the contest with plenty of momentum based on his recent race record and the ante post markets as well as his price has continued to drop as we get closer and closer to the contest itself actually kicking off.

A few bookmakers even have him as low as evens and it’s going to be interesting to see how this pans out because the race isn’t exactly particularly long so if a horse is travelling not so well at the start or makes an error later on in the race they don’t have a lot of time to recover.

Petit Mouchoir seems to be the biggest one out as the spoiler and you’ll find him priced around a 4/1 margin right now with a number of top European-based bookmakers.

Saint Calvados is trading as high as a 13/2 price and that’s not a bad wager at this point, either. You’ll also find Sceaux Royale at a price as high as 15/2 with a few bookmakers.
