2018 Betfair Chase Betting Preview PT 1

There is plenty to like about one of the first major clashes of the National Hunt season as a number of really talented chasers are set to contest the Betfair Chase at Haydock Park next week. As one of the key prep races for the Gold Cup, there is going to be plenty on the line here as we are looking to get a gauge on how the race might shape up.

Right now, we have three major contenders trading within single digit margins to secure a victory here and, while the betting favourite isn’t trading at an odds-on price, there is definitely some room for those odds to shift around during the build up to the race.

The ground will definitely play a part in this as we look to get a look at who might be able to get an edge from the conditions underfoot over this 3m+ contest over proper fences.

As it currently stands, Might Bite is your distinct favourite and he trades at a relatively short price though it’s worth noting that the bookmakers don’t have him trading at odds-on just yet. He’s definitely the one to watch on the chasing circuit going forward this year and he’s proving to be a popular option for a number of punters at this point in time.

He faces his main challenge from the likes of Native River who lines up with plenty to prove over this course and distance. He’s still trading a fairly short price and looms large as the key upset in the mix here.
