2018 Breeders’ Cup Classic Ante Post Update PT 1

With the recent announcement that triple crown winner Justify would not be contesting either of the Pacific classic at Del Mar or the Travers Stakes at Saratoga, the thoroughbred racing world is now completely up in the air about whether their new Champion is ever going to actually race again.

Because of this, we noticed that his odds have been drifting on the exchanges and with a number of top European bookmakers over the last 24 hours since the announcement was made by connection.

This news comes on the heels of the recent announcement that he would be taken out of training briefly because of a small issue with his foot. The connections obviously are in absolutely no rush to run the horse again and are certainly not looking to take any major risks with him so it appears as though many people believe the default setting is that Justify me eventually he retired prior to the world championship race that kicks off at Churchill Downs in November.

The fact remains however that justify is still considered to be the outright favorite to win the 2018 Breeders Cup Classic and number of bookmakers still continue to flow him there even though the vast majority have withdrawn him from contention from the Pacific classic and Travers Stakes - which are viewed as the key post Triple Crown races for three year olds in the United States.

His main competition is likely to come from a selection of older contenders and one of his stablemates - the Bob Baffert trainee West Coast - is considered to be the second favorite too pull off a Breeders Cup Classic victory.
