2018 Kentucky Derby Betting Update PT 1
- By A.J. Ryder on April 23, 2018 17:29 GMTThere has been a lot of new additions to the upcoming Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Kentucky two weeks from now as all of the final Derby prep races have finished up. There is a lot of action and excitement still awaiting the betting public over the next few weeks as the ante post markets are in full swing for this massive test of class in the first American classic of the season.
The ante post market has definitely evolved over the past month since the key prep races were run at Aqueduct, Keeneland, Gulfstream Park, Oaklawn Park and Santa Anita.
While the horses that punch it out for the role of betting favourite have a lot of variances between them - this race remains a fascinating puzzle with no real breakout star this time around. That makes things especially interesting and we also have the other key factor of two main contenders both being able to break the curse of Apollo.
Since 1882, no horse who has been unraced at two has been able to win the Run for the Roses, but this time around your slim favourite Justify - coming out of Bob Baffert’s barn in Southern California - will take on Todd Pletcher’s Magnum Moon to see if that curse gets broken.
There is also the small fact that both of these horses remain undefeated.
