2018 Supreme Novices Hurdle
- By A.J. Ryder on February 20, 2018 18:28 GMTAlways one of the most popular - and significantly overbet - races of the entire calendar year, the Supreme Novices Hurdle is the kick-off race at every year’s Cheltenham Festival and you can bank on this years iteration being one of the most interesting (and perhaps most lucrative) in recent years.
There is plenty to like about this contest and you’ll find that there is a breakout favourite so far this year but the price remains relatively fair as we have shifted into the Non-Runner No Bet portion of the wagering market for this massive National Hunt contest.
Getabird appears to be the betting favourite here with a fairly solid price that hovers around a 2/1 margin right now as his outright top price. He can be backed into a price as low as a 7/4 margin and that’s not exactly a bad price tag when you really think about it.
His biggest challenge looks to come from a few different directions as both Kalshnikov and If The Cap Fits are offering up the biggest price competition to Getabird.
You’ll find them both hovering around a price of about 8/1 as their best listing while a number of books have them at 6s and 7s.
Mengli Khan is the lead of the each-way options and you can back him around a price of about 12/1 and a few bookmakers offer up to 14/1 as well. Summerville Boy is also enjoying some popularity around that price and can be backed as high as a 16/1 listing.
