War of Will is competitive in the ante post markets around a 3.0 price tag and there is probably going to be a price hovering around that on the board at Belmont shortly before the race goes off. The value for War of Will bettors will be based around getting a few longer odds selections home for the other two legs of the trifecta.
Predicting the race shape is the most interesting aspect and it will likely be Tacitus making a move two furlongs out and War of Will having to run him down. Despite Belmont being a longer race and having wide sweeping turns, the stretch itself is relatively short so there isn’t a whole lot of room to make up on the way home once they round the far turn.
Todd Pletcher’s Intrepid Heart and Dale Romans Everfast are both available around an 11.0 margin and both look like they could be contenders to hit the board but look a step below the two leading fancies. Pletcher also saddles Spinoff and trades around a 13.0 listing.
Japanese contender Master Fencer has looked like a hot mess on the race track in the mornings at Belmont but is running for an appearance bonus here but isn’t expected to make much of an impression. He’s available around 15.0 while Bourbon War and Sir Winston are available at 17.0. The field is rounded out by Tax at 21.0 and Joeiva at 34.0.
