2019 King George VI Chase Preview PT 1

We are still getting our feet wet in the National Hunt season this year but we have a few really nice ante post markets showing up for some of the premier events already at this stage. As it currently stands, one of the biggest contests over fences of the entire year is the King George VI Chase and you can bank on this year being another fascinating iteration of the race.

Punters will find that Altior is considered to be the favourite here but he is facing some stiff competition from a few other really talented contenders in this massive contest. 

The bookmakers have Altior trading at a price of around 11/4 at this point in time and there are a few books who come in lower than that. You’ll find that his price will definitely drop as we get closer to the race and it’s up in the air whether he will run in a race prior to that. 

Lately it has become more in fashion for genuinely talented National Hunt horses to be debuted for the season in a race like the King George and you’ll find that his connections may opt for that again this time out. 

His chief competition appears to be coming from Clan Des Obeaux and Cyrname who are both available at a price of around 11/2 with several top bookmakers. Neither of them loom as really nice looking each-way bets at this point so it’s a win-only play if you’re going against Altior. 

Kemboy is another interesting contender at 8/1 and he has every chance of getting up for a place - particularly if you can track down a bookmaker who is willing to pay out all four places here.
